Originally from Eastern Europe, Milos Marjanovic immigrated to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1997 with his family. As a young immigrant, Milos quickly developed the determination and work ethic that would shape his future. He learned English, navigated a new culture, and went on to attend high school, college, and eventually graduate school—all right here in New Mexico. In 2007, he earned a black belt in Taekwondo and became a Junior Olympian, proving early on that hard work and perseverance were part of his DNA.

Driven to make a difference, Milos became the first in his family to become an attorney. After graduating from the University of New Mexico School of Law, he founded Marjanovic Law, LLC in 2017—a solo practice focused on helping everyday New Mexicans with real-world legal problems. Milos intentionally kept his firm small to offer clients personalized, hands-on representation, free from the bureaucracy and billable hour quotas of larger firms.

At Marjanovic Law, LLC, Milos built a diverse legal practice that reflected his commitment to service and justice:

  • Criminal Defense: Milos represented clients facing charges ranging from misdemeanor DWIs and speeding tickers to serious felony offenses such as burglary, assault, and drug-related crimes. He fought to protect his clients’ rights, seeking favorable resolutions through negotiations or trial.
  • Guardian ad Litem for Children: In abuse and neglect proceedings, Milos served as a Guardian ad Litem appointed by the court to represent the best interests of children involved in Child Protective Services cases. He conducted investigations, met with children and families, and made recommendations to ensure their safety and well-being were prioritized.
  • Adult Guardianship Law: Milos served in dozens of adult guardianship cases as both Guardian ad Litem and Petitioning Attorney. As Guardian ad Litem, he made sure the voice and wishes of the alleged incapacitated person were heard by the court—often interviewing healthcare professionals, petitioners, and court visitors to make informed recommendations. As Petitioning Attorney, he represented clients (often family members) seeking legal authority to care for loved ones, helping navigate full or limited guardianships, powers of attorney, or other alternatives.
  • General Civil Litigation: Milos also handled a range of civil matters, including landlord-tenant disputes, breach of contract cases, small business issues, and family law conflicts such as custody and visitation disagreements. He approached each case with a practical mindset and a focus on resolution.

In 2024, Milos became a partner at Smith & Marjanovic Law, LLC, where the firm now focuses on guardianships, malpractice, wrongful death, personal injury, and civil rights litigation. His well-rounded legal background and dedication to justice continue to shape his advocacy for clients facing life-altering legal challenges.

Outside the office, Milos enjoys time with his family, playing with his dog, and spending time outdoors—whether it’s on a motorcycle, hiking trail, fishing trip, or hunting excursion. His deep commitment to both his clients and his community remains at the heart of his legal practice.
